I have no idea why it ends up in /private, but apparently something
changed with the Mac OS X 10.3.5 update. It's strange that only Xcode,
of all applications on the system, needs to have a problem with this.

Apparently automounted NFS home directories is not used at all at
Apple, that much is clear...   :)
