I'd bet you that you could survey 3000 developers, and if you said "do you need fast editing and fast turn-around time", 100% of them would say yes..


But if you add the qualifier "on a 36,000 line file", you'd get a substantially smaller positive response. Personally, I get bogged down in a 2,000 line C++ file much more than the XCode editor does (although opening that 2000 line file in XCode on a PowerBook is a bit daunting, editing shows no lag).

Um, no.

Choose "Preprocess". Now you've got a many K line file to look through.
And XCode is slow to show/page/scroll it.
