Compile (Apple-K) always succeeds

When I choose Compile in the build menu, it always succeeds.
I have to build everything to actually get compile error messages, which is annoying since I want to check the file I'm working on.

I know this must be obvious, but I can't find any info on it.

What am I overlooking?

Thanks,

Tor Langballe
