Question about plists and versions

Hello,

So, I have a build version number in several property lists and in a script
which builds the disk image for my product.

I currently am entering this in several places in order to change the
version number. I would like to enter it one place and have the various
property lists use it. What I would really like is something like an
include file or an environment variable that I could set in my project in
one place that could be used by the following:

- A preferences property list.
- A QuickTime component property list.
- Various .r files that are used in the QuickTime component.
- An application property list.
- A script build rule which puts together the disk image.

Is there a way to have property lists, scripts, and rez files share
symbolics?

Thank you for your help,

Chas.
