Well, I have no problems with my German keyboard. Brackets are shift-8 and shift-9, Option-8 and Option-9 give curly brackets, Option-5 and Option-6 give angle brackets, and Option-7 is the pipe. That's not any harder to type than regular brackets or anything. The only thing that is really annoying is the backslash, which is Option- Shift-7, which is just to complicated a shortcut to reliably type two dozen times in a row when writing LaTeX mark-up.


So, speak for yourself.
