Try checking if the file is locked (use Finder Get Info). I've had problems with the files getting locked after submitting (checking in) in Perforce, but I think I only had this problem when the files were on a network mounted file system.

If the file is locked, you can use Finder to unlock it or you can use the 'chflags' command from a Terminal prompt. When I was having the problem, I would just checkout the entire project and then use the 'chflags' command to recursively unlock all the files.

I am able to check the project out to a different machine and xcode is able to modify the files and save without error. Any ideas what I should be checking on the dev machine with the problem? If I open one of the project files within Xcode with no project file open I still can not save it. Permissions on file are r+w.

I was using perforce with P4V, checked in files, lock shows up on file icons in Xcode, then checked files back out but I can not save any files now. I get the informative message "The document "filename" could not be saved". If I open the file in an external text editor such as BBEdit I can modify and save the file. If I "rename" the file within Xcode and modify the file I can save. And if I rename it back to the original file name I can still save. I've restarted computer, removed xcode pref file, and done clean build. None of that allows me to save a modified file in Xcode. What am I failing to reset in Xcode to allow it to save again?
