As I recall, this was the way the visual client /used/ to deal with checked in files, and the way the CodeWarrior plugin does (i.e. it was never updated). The command line client has always used permissions, but if you've used one of the other clients it's definitely possible. (I'm pretty sure Xcode uses the command line client.)
You may want to check the client workspaces on each computer, too. They may have different options set. I don't have a Perforce server to log in to to check if there's an option to control whether files are locked on submission in the workspace anymore...
(I miss Perforce. I've heard Subversion is a good substitute, but I'm stuck with cvs at the moment. It makes sense in its way, but it's just not the way I think of version control. Actually, does anyone know of a good "CVS for Perforce users" tutorial?) |
