This is getting completely off-topic, but I have to reply.
I am not Apple, I did not invent "internet enabled", and I am not
religious about using it. But your post was not objective, but skewed
by personal opinion

You can back up the app it contained, without any superfluous info.

Again, there is no reason why you can not copy the app contained in
the disk image. It is exactly what was meant to be distributed
Let me reiterate: I have no stake in using internet enabled disk
images, and really someone who has should argue this topic instead.
And I will ask support if anyone has ever complained about internet
enabled distribution. If people did, i will change it
