Do you have "Live Autoresizing" turned on? I believe it's in the

I didn't have it on (I had never noticed that option) but it
doesn't matter. That only affects what happens when you resize
the window.
Hey James -
That option makes the auto resizing rules apply while resizing with
the mouse. It affects both views and windows.
Huh. It does for newly created controls, yes. (I was confused by
the fact that the IB User Guide only talks about resizing windows
when talking about this feature.) Buttons created in IB 2.5 behave
as if bound to the bottom left, even if the size inspector shows
them bound to nothing, or to top right.
I just created a new carbon window nib, with a box in a box, and
with the live auto-resizing option turned off. I didn't see the
behavior you observed. If you re-create the enclosing box, do you
still observe the same behavior?
If I make a new box and copy and paste the old controls into it, I
do still see the problem. It seems to be a property of the buttons,
checkboxes, and whatnot, not of the group box.
Hey James -
Interesting. I think I know what's going on. I can reproduce this by
creating a NIB in IB, saving in IB 2.x Carbon format, closing, and re-
opening it. I don't have a workaround for you other than to re-create
the controls and use the NIB 3.x format. Could you file a bug at
bugreport.apple.com and attach a copy of the file in question?
Sorry for the trouble -

When I use Interface Builder 3.1 to edit a nib created with an
earlier version of IB, vertically resizing a group box causes
the controls inside to move as if they were bound to the bottom,
which really makes it painful to rearrange items in the box. I
can't see any setting that would cause them to do that. It
doesn't happen with controls embedded in a user pane. If I
replace each control with an identical-looking new one, then it
behaves as expected. Anyone know a workaround? Even hand-
editing XML might be worth it.
