Jeff,

these Xcode issues you're complaining about?
I haven't filed a bug report yet on rdar but of course will once I've
ascertained that this isn't fixed with 3.1.
> in fact, I'm actually very pleased with Xcode 3 in general
I'm very happy for you ;-)
I am too, as I have mentioned in multiple postings. This about the
debugger, not about Xcode in general.
> Since I'm primarily a Cocoa programmer, most of these don't affect me
Not sure how you got the impression I'm a C++ or Carbon programmer as
I didn't mention anything to this effect.
To the contrary, the problems I'm having with the debugger are in 100%
Cocoa/Objective-C projects. If you read my posts again then you will
see that I explicitly mention NSString, NSLog and that the debugger
problems are related to displaying disassembly for ObjC method dispatch.
If these problems aren't biting you then count yourself lucky! Others
aren't quite so fortunate...
> no matter how much Xcode bashing you do here
Criticizing Xcode is not tantamount to bashing it. Sorry that you feel
that I'm being overly negative by airing a frustration on this list...

Guys such as Chris Espinosa and Chris Hanson are active on this list
working tirelessly to help us Xcode users and I was hoping they might
be able to help here, hence the postings...

Simon

Why can't Apple get the debugger beyond first base? Is gdb simply

with their own development?
Just out of curiosity, guys... have you opened enhancement requests
or bug reports for all of these Xcode issues you're complaining
about? Since I'm primarily a Cocoa programmer, most of these don't
affect me and I find Xcode to be more than adequate, in fact, I'm
actually very pleased with Xcode 3 in general. I don't know what
percentage of the internal development at Apple is done in Cocoa,
but I'd guess quite a lot, so if you don't file bug reports, your
concerns are not very likely to ever be addressed no matter how much
Xcode bashing you do here . Apple doesn't have a list fairy who
reads the mailing lists, waves her wand, turning complaints into bug
reports and enhancement requests.
If you haven't, you really should:
