And that's a good thing. Why on earth would you want to create a new project based on deprecated technology?

No, that is an incredibly stupid thing if it is in fact the case. Only the 64-bit Carbon GUI API was deprecated.

"Only"?! Everything defaults to 64 bit now. All Macs are 64 bit now. That's pretty clear, isn't it?

Then why are the 10.5 and 10.4 SDKs still available?

Is this PPC on my desk suddenly a 64-bit x86? Oh I suppose it's not technically a "Mac" anymore.
Perhaps YOU live in a world where "all" Macs are 64-bit but I sure don't.

If in fact this is the way the Xcode SDK is now shipping and there
will no longer be a Carbon application template in Xcode, I would
really like to hear that from an official source.

"If"? The Carbon templates are gone. Look for yourself.

Please let's not go through all this again!

I don't know what you mean. I do not understand this hostile attitude towards an API either.

Perhaps the Carbon templates could be an optional install or part of the 10.4 package.

Bernie (the OP) does have a good reason for wanting to create such a
project. Best workaround is to reboot into 10.5, make a new test Carbon
project there, zip that up, and hang on to it for future troubleshooting
purposes.

There is a "legacy" 32-bit DTS Carbon Shell example here that should work just fine:

More later,
Jack
