So I haven't got so much time to make the transition.
Apple makes the life of a developer very tough each time it
conjures up some new technique/OS, e.g., carbon, quartz, Intel.

Apple wants keep bringing new and interesting products to market, and for that reason, our platform tools and technologies needs to keep evolving. Ultimately this benefits both developers and end users of Mac OS X, but we also need to pay the price of staying up to date to reap these benefits. As a developer you can either do a little work every day to stay up to date, or in the other extreme, you can wait until the technologies you use become obsolete before you move on. If you choose to do the latter, you shouldn't be surprised to find that it ends up being a lot more problematic and expensive compared to doing it in smaller increments. Still, many developer - big and small alike - end up falling in this trap.

If you're not ready to make the transition, I'd suggest that you keep using your old machine for development, or at least for debugging. If you choose to go this route, I'd also suggest that you make a plan for how to eventually transition over to a set of supported technologies.

Good luck,
