Otherwise I'd recommend
• Getting an "online" ADC membership and downloading from connect.apple.com.
• Paying $99 for the Mac developer program and downloading from developer.apple.com/mac
• Paying $99 for the iPhone developer program and downloading from developer.apple.com/iphone (the only way to get the iPhone headers/libraries/tools, includes Mac SDK).
Also, Apple is releasing a new platform on Saturday. You may assume it has a new version of the iPhone OS. Historically, these have been accompanied by revisions to Xcode. It might behove you to wait for the download till Saturday or Sunday. This would not affect what you get on the Snow Leopard DVD.
I've actually been a registered developer (online ADC membership) since
2002, and I'm just moving up to a new computer and version of Xcode.
What I'm trying to avoid is large downloads here in Papua New Guinea,
where it gets very expensive - there's no such thing as unlimited
bandwidth, so I'm paying about 15c per megabyte downloaded. I hope I can
get a friend in another country to do the downloading for me. If he can
get a complete installation, can he copy that onto a DVD and send it to
me in the mail? Would that simply be sticking the /Developer directory
onto the DVD? Or are things put somewhere else, so that I would need
something else such as things in /usr?
Anyway, I hadn't heard about the release on Saturday, but I was out of
email contact for six weeks in February-March, so I'm not up on the
news. I'll wait until Saturday and see what appears.
