Thanks for the explanation, but this is definitely NOT acceptable. If for some reason someone sets up a development machine or partition to get some work done on a plane or some other locale that's removed from Internet service, he's going to be screwed.
That's me, I'm on a cruise ship and there's no way I can pull 450Mb of docs over the satellite connection at 25c a minute. In their defense however it does seem that it's *supposed* to pull the documentation sets in right after installation when you first run it. I did, when I set up this development machine the day before I left, make sure I'd hit the check and install documentation now button, and checked there was documentation .. it sounds like there was however a bug which stopped it actually being updated.
