Sometimes red marks stay there after you fix the error.

In general, I've found single file compile most useful when porting, since you often fix a file at a time. (I haven't done this with Xcode 4, so the live approach may work well enough.)

(I agree with those who find them a bit aggressive at times -- every time I open a {, I'm scolded.)

I've used precompiled output for my own code in the past; most recently, it's been to report compiler bugs to the Xcode team. They keep asking for something that Xcode can't do...

BTW, I've been one of the negative ones, but I appreciate your helpful presence here on the open mailing list, despite all the negativity.
