It isn't cluttered _if you put them there yourself._ Clean-desk advocates (on-screen and real-life) don't comprehend that. They think everybody's cognition is just like theirs, and that "clutter" can only come from being too shiftless to do what's right. The "feeling" that it's cluttered is just that — a feeling, not a fact.
I can comprehend that multiple windows give some people the creeps. Those people should feel free to close their own windows.
I don't think multiple windows give even _most_ people the creeps. Those people should be free to close _their_ own windows, too, and not have them closed out from under them by the minority (who probably imagine they are being Helpful and Efficient) who call it "clutter."
Have you ever known someone who cleans up other people's desks "for them" while the owners are away? Does he have friends?
