Hi,
I've been doing some research into the Fuji FinalProof lately. In their
literature, they mention three features of the Proof Manager software
that I don't know much about:
One is that their software uses "weighted sampling", which gives highest
priority (ie. more samples) to neutrals and flesh tones; a high priority
to (these are their words, not mine) "important colors", which include
primary and secondary colors without a tertiary, or with black acting as
tertiary and "UCR and GCR colors"(?); and a lower priority to other
colors which, presumably, won't be judged as harshly by the viewer.
The second is compensation for the room illumination, which has several
settings for different types of balanced lighting.
The third is "excitation adjustment", which compensates for fluorescent
whiteners in the substrate.
Has anyone used these features in Proof Manager or any other software?
I've built monitor profiles where 5000K or 6500K were options as
illuminants, but other than that, I don't know that I have any
experience with these other things. (Of course I could be using them
without realizing it.)
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks in advance!
John MacDonald
