Can one ask AppleScript to set a variable of type alias which is in
fact the alis resource inside of a Finder alias file?
Sure, you can ask for "original item of <alias file>" ("as alias", if
you wish). Though I'm not sure that will help the original poster.

So far as I can tell; it is not possible. By the time the folder
action runs, the file is in the new folder, and the information
about where it came from is gone.
If the user holds COMMAND and OPTION down at the time of the drag
meaning not "move" but "make an alias to" you might have a chance.
Does creating an alias trigger a folder action?
