Yes, I need to process the contents of a new message. As far as I
can tell, these *aren't* automatically saved to Drafts, which is
why I was asking about processing text from the frontmost editor
window... t'would seem to be a straightforward endeavor.
In Tiger, they are. I think they are first saved after 30 seconds
or a minute, and then are continually saved as the message remains
open. I haven't timed it.
But, as I said, they are also saved when you press command-S.
Yep, I see they are auto-saved now... good to know.
I'm going to try doing it with GUI Scripting so I don't have to
remind the user to do anything but run a script (from the Dock
perhaps).
Or the script menu.
There's no Mail script menu anymore.. but I figure you mean the
system wide script menu - i'll make that an option for sure, though
most people don't have it enabled and a simple icon to click in the
dock is often easiest for people with simple environments.
Identifying which message in Drafts is the current (frontmost) one
seems dicey (based on subject perhaps?)
Well, if messages are sent as soon as they are finished, there
should be only one message in the draft folder at a time, but I
realize that not everyone sends as soon as she finishes it.
Right... they may well have other business going on at the same time...
