What is weird is that its Finder properties shows the path if the volume of the original item is mounted but shows "Missing Value" if the volume is not mounted. Its System Event properties doesn't have an "original item" property, though.

When I do a command-I on the alias file, I see the posix path to the original (Original:) even if the volume is unmounted.


Yes; I had meant to write "original" where I wrote "alias".
