| G’day everyone who is interested in reading about and offering advice on my original question, which was so admirably answered at length by Shane.
Whilst I’ve read with interest the thoughts that I might disregard code signing Apps that I can guarantee come direct from me, to the user, with little chance of having a security breach added in transit, I’ve decided that I will follow Shanes advice to code sign, once Sierra is released, and I then update my complete package to run under it.
I’m doing so for one overriding reason. I’ve always tried to keep the installation of Mail Manager as simple as possible, because it’s so complex, and with many, many changes and requested alterations to its running, re-installation is frequent, and installation simplicity is paramount. Code signing, from Shanes suggestions, simplifies the installation as much as possible. It might mean extra work on my end, but I see that as a small price to pay to make life as easy as possible for my Client, even though there’s only one of them for this particular App bundle.
I’m not going to confuse matters by adding code signing to my present El Capitan version, as it’s basically finished, and running well. It also runs on an i7 iMac that is virtually isolated from anything else on the net other than incoming and outgoing Mail from a Company Email address, and also ftp downloads from a server, using Interarchy, from folders limited with passwords to access by individual Clients, who upload graphic images. The iMacs sole purpose is to run Mail Manager, 24/7, with occasional manual accessing to a remote server (with MM turned off), to check Mail Manager generated backup files, and delete very old backups.
