Hi Jason,
I could tell you to "leave the Mac platform if you can't take it", but
instead, I'll be serious. ;)
First of all, you want a Cocoa-job, you'll get it.
It may take you some time, but you'll get it.
Search for the job!
I live in a country, where Macintosh software development is something
you dig for, and when I say dig, it's probably more likely that you'll
find gold than a Mac software house. ;)
I do have my own software company, and I develop software for other
companies; that's how I live.
Recently I found a company that needs my knowledge, and I believe they
couldn't pick a better choice, since I'm exeperienced in exactly their needs.
I've been "idle" for a few months; doing nothing. In the beginning, I was
nervous, since no money was coming in, and as I have to pay taxes,
apartment, etc, it's pretty scary what could happen if I didn't pay all
these things.
But I found out that my economy would be able to handle waiting for this job.
In the meantime, I relaxed, enjoyed my stressless life. Now I have energy
for the new job.
So, I bet that, even though I didn't have a job for a while, I have a
much better life than someone who had a job his/her entire life.
Now, it's time to take a look at yourself, compare the real life with
what's going to happen on the computer.
This is something I've learned after a lot of software development:
If a task is complicated, make the code to handle the task complicated.
You say, you're a Windows programmer moving to the Macintosh.
What would be more obvious for you than moving Windows programs to the Mac ?
You will have all the resources you need.
Most important is that you have this list to help you out, if you're stuck. :)
-It's free, just where do you find the word "FREE!" in the Windows world ? ;)
Programming using Cocoa is easy, but there are certain rules you should
stick with.
You will learn these rules automatically, as Cocoa teaches you.
It's time to start the easy part of your life. Welcome to Cocoa!
