Preference Panes

  • Subject: Preference Panes

Hi all,

New to this list, so please forgive me if this question has already been
asked.

I'm in the process of developing a System Preferences pane, and I've noticed
that by default the pane is displayed in the "Other" categeory. However, it
would make more sense for my pane to be displayed in one of the already
existing categories (i.e. "Personal", "Hardware", etc.).

Is it possible to place 3rd-party preference panes in one of those
categories, and if so, how? Is there a bundle setting that must be added, or
something that must be physically changed within the code or nib itself?

I know that this isn't exactly a Cocoa question, but preference panes must
be developed using Cocoa, so I figured this was the best place to ask. If
there is another list more appropriate for this question, please let me
know.

Thanks,
Vic
