I9m in the process of looking for an output solution that can produce
halftone dots on an inkjet. So far, from what I can gather, EFI9s
ScreenProof and IPA9s ReelColour (which is essentially SeeColor9s
Computer-To-Proof) are two of the main players in this area.
I was wondering if anyone on this list has experience with one or both of
these and has any input as to which one is better. I should mention that I
have zero experience with ReelColor, but I do have experience with EFI
ColorProof. I9ve been pretty happy with ColorProof so I would assume
ScreenProof would perform equally well. At this point I9m probably leaning
more toward ScreenProof for the following reasons:
* ReelColor can only be used for proofing on newsprint (I read this
somewhere...is this true?)
* ReelColor is not ICC based where ScreenProof is
* ScreenProof has built in RIP
* ReelColor is limited to outputting only to HP inkjets where ScreenProof
can output to several other manufacturers in addition to HP
* EFI has a user forum on their web site
Thanks for any feedback.
