Strictly speaking the device link profile does not limit the gamut of the Vutek.
What happens (whether conventional ICC or dev link profiles are used) is that
the profile "asks" the Vutek for the ink combination that will produce colors
within the source (press) gamut.
It comes down to the intent used in creating the device link. Using a colorimetric
intent (good for proofing), the extra gamut won't be used. If you use a
saturation intent to create a device link, then this should expand
the colorspace. For instance Argyll collink supports a wide
range of intents including saturation (see -G and -ims), and
can (to a degree) retain K inking with the right options (ie. see -kt and -fk).
