I've moved from 10.6.8 directly to 10.8.3. By "some time" do you mean since 10.7, or 10.8.0?
Most of the Macs here are using NEC PA241 or PA271 monitors and none of the 10.6.8 machines have this problem.
We're working in subdued lighting doing pre-press work. Finder icons items and Dock icons that are 255-0-0 are now displaying on this Mac at a retina numbing L62 a98 b80. At 5000°K and 120cd/m that's quite a poke in the eye.
It's great that we've got screens that can reproduce those colours -- but I don't want to see them in this environment… and didn't until installing 10.8.3.
Shouldn't untagged RGB assume a common working space or an Apple Generic RGB in the OS?
Or at least give users with wide gamut devices the ability to override this behaviour as it's not just the Finder -- web pages with untagged RGB images also look ridiculous on this Mac.
