It's just stuff I've picked up from being around the systems / networking guys over the years. Your Google-fu is probably as good as mine on the subject.
If you've got any friends who are actual systems administrators, especially if their job involves backups, offer to buy them lunch in exchange for an introduction to the subject. If your needs are such that it's something you can take care of by yourself, lunch is enough to learn everything you need to know. If you can't learn everything you need to know over lunch, hire said friend at her standard rate to set up a system for you. It won't take her long.

I'm with you on this, not Andrew. I find TIFF most useful for flat images to pass around the ICC toolchain. RPP outputs to Beta RGB TIFFs, which then goes to Photoshop for any cleanup / sharpening / stitching / whatever other processing. If it's a big job, I save the Photoshop file. Everything in Photoshop stays in Beta RGB. When it needs to go to another color space, it gets output again as a flattened Beta RGB TIFF, and I use Argyll CMS for color space transformations (especially to the printer profile). Then, perhaps, back to Photoshop for printing, conversion to JPEG, whatever.
Cheers,
b&
