What about a complete new set of color spaces that have more relation to
today's practices?
I thought sRGB got credit again with the appearance of tablet displays
factory calibrated to sRGB but even there the standards are not kept by the
manufacturers that introduced it:

CM on tablets was discussed here but at some point everyone could have been
happy with sRGB calibrated tablets as the cornerstone for a color standard
on the web.
Mike Chaney introduced a pRGB that should cover today's inkjet printer
gamuts, smaller than ProPhoto and by that more accurate on conversions
within that space

In a similar mood a color space for color toned B&W images is something I
would like to see, eciRGB style, Lab curve, D50, gamut not exceeding Lab a
b values of -15 to 15. Absolute Colormetric as the printer's gamut should
be way larger than needed for prints like that. But with an advanced
algorithm for BPC so any dynamic range in B&W would get a perfect
perceptual tone range without sacrificing Dmax. AC does not have BPC at
all. Either that or an addition in the rendering choices for that kind of
B&W printing.
