I'm pretty sure that I've seen a bug in Radar about this before, but
it never hurts to file a new one. So I'd go ahead and hit up
BugReporter with this information.
Also, you might want to make sure that the user has the latest version
of Final Cut. If I'm right about having seen a report of this nature
before then it is quite possible that it might have been fixed in a
more recent version of Final Cut.
Thanks!

The user reports that /Library/Audio/PlugIns/HAL contains:
iSightAudio.plugin
DVCPROHDAudio.plugin
Additionally, he tried removing DVCPROHDAudio.plugin and
restarting. With DVCPROHDAudio.plugin removed the freeze no longer
occurs.

What user-land drivers are installed? They are in /Library/Audio/

Update:
A user tested this last night by doing a clean install on a Mac
Mini. With the fresh install, the freeze did not appear.
Then he installed Soundtrack only from the Final Cut Studio 5.1
install, and the freeze appeared.
