Please. Remember that this is a VOLUNTEER email list. There are
some Apple employees who read this, but there is no guarantee of timely
response.
This wasn't a criticism of anyone, it was simply a statement that there
was no response. Generally there *is* a response to questions, which
is great. I simply took it as an indication that not many people were
shipping signed installers, and so not many people had encountered the
problem.
Sorry you took it personally.
If you have a time-sensitive or mission-critical problem,
contact ADC, file a radar, or whatever else you think is appropriate,
in addition to talking about it here.
Since you think this is something that worked in 10.5 but is
broken in 10.6, please file a bug report (radarweb). It sounds like
something that might be straightforward to fix, and we certainly don't
want to prevent signed installers from running!
I pointed out to our marketing people
that Apple's Safari, iTunes and iWork installers aren't signed, and
they decided it wasn't a vital feature after all...
. . .
On the other hand, the iWork and iTunes "full manual" installers
you download aren't signed. Sigh.
Which is what we're looking at.
