We tested 4D JDBC adaptor some time ago, back when it was still in
beta. We found it too slow and restricted. Fine for read-only but not
for a fully fledged WO applications. Unfortunately the 4D data base is
too restrictive in its data types (no timestamps, no nulls).
Mind you, it's now been a while since we last had a look at it, so
maybe the JDBC adaptor is better. Data type issues are likely to still
remain.
In the end we decided to replicate data between 4D and a MySQL database
which was the back-end to our WO application.

I'm new to WebObjects, well I haven't actually started yet, I'm just
deciding whether to use it for my next project. I've been looking at

priced for my initial needs especially when you can use MySQL for free

I'm not overly keen on using MySQL so I wondered if anyone was using
or had
used 4D, they have a JDBC driver etc.. and are reasonably priced.
I'm looking to use it for a web application.
