I am answering this question following what wise people elsewhere in the open source world advise to do in this case: I have no idea and I am not commenting on the patents.

As a general statement, not related to Cayenne, none of the open source code is protected against patent litigation. NONE. And I strongly suggest that we don't discuss this anymore here.
