This is too weird for me. While the 10.5.5 Combo was installing, I
called up an iTerm window to check something on our ftp site. the X11
(XQuartz 3.2.1) started just like it was before under 10.5.4 The combo
installer finished, the machine restarted, and ... nothing, no X11.
iTerm failed to call X11, IDL 7 failed to start.
Top shows only one X11 running, and 2 shells (for the two iTerm
windows).
As for the output you requested, in the first iTerm, was:
Last login: Wed Sep 17 16:24:16 on console
^C
apollo18:~ rblack$ /Applications/Utilities/X11.app/Contents/MacOS/X11
X11.app: main(): argc=1
argv[0] = /Applications/Utilities/X11.app/Contents/MacOS/X11
The second window failed to launch xterm. If you can figure out
something, great. If not, I'll simply revert back to 10.4.11. I've
wasted too much time with this buggy OS.
BTW, I heard Leopard uses X11R7. If so, how come I only see X11R6 in /
usr?
apollo18:~ rblack$ cd /usr
apollo18:usr rblack$ ls
X11 bin lib local share
X11R6 include libexec sbin
standalone
apollo18:usr rblack$
I'm outta here. 'Till tomorrow.
