The install_name is libfoo.1.dylib, the extra link is not really needed,
dyld will only look for libfoo.1.dylib. This is also true on linux, btw,
but I had no interest in changing it on linux.
Ed would know about the Apple changes, he may even be able to give you
radar #'s.
