I would disagree with that expectation. If your expectation is to be
able to deploy to older (or, by extension, all) releases of OSX, it is
perfectly reasonable to build against the SDK. The entire purpose of
the SDK is to give that baseline. If you're building against the base
OS without SDKs and it's working on older systems, you're lucking out,
not doing something guaranteed to work. :)
