I share your pain. Maybe Mondomouse can mitigate your agony. I tried it,
didn't find it quite my cup of tea, but it may be yours. I seem to
remember they have a free trial.

Also, I assume you already use iTerm2 rather than Terminal.app. I has an
option for "follow mouse" between its own terminal windows. It also
features "automatic copy" when you mark text in a window, which I find
handy.
