I agree; launching a flotilla of floating windows is basically giving
up on actually designing a UI and instead leaving it up to users to
herd this crap around his screen(s) all day.

However, the current design has huge flaws.  Guys, I don't understand
why there is such a problem managing text-editing panes.  Please,
PLEASE look at the way Visual Studio does this.  For all its problems,
Visual Studio at least manages files well.  Look at this:

The design is there.  Just do exactly the same thing.  Seriously.
Save us all a lot of pain.

I did file a bug on Xcode's failure to use the code that's already
available in a tab when hitting a breakpoint.  It's number 9576819.
