 I do realize it's hard, but something needs to be done. Otherwise the
nominal interoperability of CMS is a joke because one never knows what
state each component of the system is in. Which is clearly
disadvantageous for a third-party supplier of a product even if it is
a good as ColorEyes.

 Closed loop systems have the benefit of less fingerpointing. Thus a
Company X computer with a Company X display with a Company X
calibrator and Company X software may fail, but at least Company X
shoulders the sales risk if the thing fails.
