Andrew & Uli,
The "Default" setting in LR is irrelevant. Users can and should select what they want depending on their needs or preferences.
The FACT is, you can select to export a file in sRGB, ARGB(98) or ProPhoto RGB in two places: in the file settings section of the Export dialog, and in the External Editing tab of Preferences (Edit Menu). In the latter the program reminds users that ProPhoto is the setting which captures all the colours which LR can handle. If I were after creating "accurate" profiles for multi-purposed images, it would be the most sensible colour space to use.

Thank god!

I did. Its you who needs to figure out how the application operates.
But apparently given facts, your only response (other than telling me
that indeed I'm correct about this behavior), is to tell the list
you'll ignore this fact and not reply, which again shows how your mind
works. If indeed shown the errors of your ways, best to ignore than
refuse to reply.
Its pretty clear you have no intent to understand how LR exports data,
so what is the likelihood you'll listen to those three color
scientists about your faulty report? None.
We are of agreement in one respect, its no longer useful to continue
this discussion.
