You're right, I missed that.
Doesn't that make them even more authoritative than most papers in
journals which have usually only been reviewed by one or two referees?
It's hard to say, because the review process is not spelled out.
Typically journal articles are reviewed anonymously (so there is
no chance of being impressed by an authors reputation, and the
reviewers can say exactly what they think without fear of retribution).
I also think that an article without attribution to a specific
set of authors or a date rather gives the impression of being
a lightweight publication.
