Wouldn't matter in my opinion. Apple would just have considered the ICC's hypothetical "null device profile" something to be ignored, with something else assumed in its place anyway. Just like they did with /DeviceRGB in a context where NOTHING ELSE is even remotely appropriate, let alone more appropriate. If you're going to question one spec, why not question another?
