Red Hat and others have announced support for MacTel, but is there
anything available yet?
The BAMBIOS project sounded close, too, but I don't think that's been
released for consumption.
Is anyone running Linux on their MacTel machines currently?
If Boot Camp will help or not in this regard is unclear: apparently
it includes a firmware update, which presumably is updating EFI with
legacy BIOS support. That may be enough to get a standard Linux ISO
to boot, although you'd have to do without some of the drivers that
enable Windows functionality, as those in the Boot Camp install are
Windows only.

The major problem I've found trying to run Linux on a PowerBook is
the AirPort Extreme card. Everything else seems to work well
except the partitioning scheme I have to do myself.
The MacBook Pros are better than the PowerBooks in this regard,
since they use an Atheros wireless module instead of Broadcom.
This should allow the "madwifi" driver to work, though my MBP has
not arrived yet, so I haven't been able to verify this.
