You could be right, but you have to start somewhere. :-) Which is why
I want to completely, totally, remove X11 and Xquartz, in their
entirety. Then, after installing X11 only, and it runs, I can be
reasonably sure (I think) that one or both of the installs were damaged.
If it still does not run, then there is something else to go look for.
And, if you check the Gimp mailing lists, you'll find I'm not the only
Mac user with problems getting Gimp to run. In replies to my first
message about running on the Mac, there was a Leopard user and another
Snow Leopard user who couldn't get it to work.
Relatively sure there was a Leopard user, definitely a Snow Leopard user.
So somewhere, it seems getting it to run is not as straight forward as
it should be. :-(
