ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I said was even remotely intended as an insult to
anyone. If you (or someone else) took something that way, you (or
whoever) misunderstood.

Well, I tried doing the Tcl/Tk automatic (one-way: X selection to OS X
clipboard) script, which uses PRIMARY as the default for X selection (Tk
can also use SECONDARY as an option), and running it gets this error:
Error in startup script: PRIMARY selection doesn't exist or form
"STRING" not defined
Having been told that the PRIMARY selection was the default for X, and
seeing the option under X11 Preferences to "Update PRIMARY (middle-click)
when PASTEBOARD changes" that basically confirmed that PRIMARY was the
X11 selection buffer between X and OS X's PASTEBOARD. But I might have
gotten that wrong. Sometimes, I can only go by what I'm told and/or
what I read, and if that's all wrong, then I'll get it wrong.
When this failed, I posted here (I think...might have been another list)
asking how to fix it, and was told it's been a known problem for the past
couple of releases of OS X (though I don't recall how far back).
When copy/paste from X to OS X stopped working, I got this same error
>from other sources, too. And yes, selection within X apps works
normally. But now, using autocutsel (thanks again), it all works
normally, and my quick hack is no longer needed. :-)
Oh, and I just found out that the comment that one of the responses
was sent to me was added from somewhere else (no idea where, or why
only that one message showed that). Very strange, though.
