No, when you change what the System Prefs->Displays calls Resolution, you *are* changing the virtual resolution of the monitor (not the actual pixels, which would be physically impossible), therefore how many pixels are available on your drawing canvas.
We're all arguing semantics here, so why don't we just drop this thread. It's gone on too long and nobody is listening.
