Thanks Iliah, that makes sense. But maybe I am a bit confused then over the subject matter for this aspect of the discussion. Is it about lack of discrimination between or not seeing colours?

Well, that confuses things. If we say an input device has some limited gamut it is like saying that it can't "see" some colour. Lack of discrimination between colours and not seeing colours are different things.
